What and where is the most polluted river in the world? Is anything being done to clean it up?
As of December 2008 the most polluted river in the world was apparently the Citarum river in Indonesia. At that time it was declared the world's worst by the Asia Development Bank, which announced a $500 million project to clean it up. It has inspired photo's of the floating garbage, but the real pollution is probably mostly factory wastes and raw sewerage.
